If you’re looking for artistic education in Round Rock, Chisholm Trail Middle School is the place to go. Now, the whole state knows it.
The Texas Art Education Association named Chisholm’s principal, Robert Sormani, its 2009 Principal of the Year. This, for his support of the school’s Visual Art Program and his use of the PowerArt model, which employs art to teach math, to help reduce the achievement gap in math.
“I know I speak for our entire faculty when I say we are extremely proud of Robert,” Tim Lowke, Round Rock’s visual art curriculum specialist and a visual art teacher at Chisholm, said in a press statement. “He has really helped us make the Visual Art program at Chisholm Trail what it is today.”
Mr. Sormani will be honored a the annual TAEA conference, which takes place in Dallas on Nov. 12.
