How many arrows does Cupid have in his quiver?
70 — all of them preschoolers.
Children from The Children’s Center of Austin’s Jester and Steiner Ranch locations traveled to Brighton Gardens of Austin and the Summit at Lakeway last month to deliver handmade Valentines to homebound senior citizens.
The kids scampered through both retirement homes, smiling at the residents, shaking hands, and handing out their Valentines. The school arranged the trips not only to teach the kids how to interact with people of all ages, but also to instill in them the importance of making a difference in other peoples’ lives.
“By making and delivering Valentine’s Day cards for the residents of Brighton Gardens and the Summit at Lakeway, we hope to help the children put the virtues they are learning into practice by brightening someone else’s day,” said Therese Thompson, owner of The Children’s Center of Austin, in a press statement.
From the smiles on the residents’ faces, the kids clearly succeeded!
