For the past few months, we’ve been keeping tabs on the McNeil High School Debate Team and their quest to beat all contenders in the Bickel & Brewer/New York University International Public Policy Forum (IPPF).
First McNeil bested All Saints Episcopal School in Texas during a written debate.
Then they trounced Nanyang Girls’ High School in Singapore during a similar written volley.
Now they’ll face Kentucky’s Henry Clay High School in the quarterfinals, to be held in New York City.
To bring you up to speed on the competition:
More than 230 high schools —representing 40 states and 31 foreign countries— registered for this year’s contest. Judges now have whittled that number down to eight. McNeil is one them!
The McNeil students will travel to New York City April 16-18 in an all-expenses-paid trip for a change to win the grand prize of $10,000.
The debate finals will be streamed live at www.bickelbrewer.com/debate.
Good luck Team McNeil — we’re rooting for you!
