Fostering a Pet This Spring

By:
Kim Pleticha

You’ve heard the old saying In the Spring a young man’s fancy turns to love, right? Well, it also applies to pets. And as a result, the Town Lake Animal Center is swimming in puppies.

So, the Center has asked us to put out the word for friendly families to foster a pup this Spring. We know our readers are plenty friendly, and also have generous hearts, so we’ll hoping you’ll take her up on the offer!

“In addition to saving lives, fostering pets provides an enriching teaching environment for the children in the home that instills reverence, respect, and responsibility,” Kimberly Hart, the program manager for outreach and education, tells us. “It [also] serves as a lesson on the importance of spaying and neutering and, in the case of fostering a mother with pups, their distinctive litter-rearing behaviors.”

You can choose to foster either a pup or a mother and her babies (this includes the canine or feline varity!).

If you’re interested in fostering a pet this Spring, please call Kimberly Heart at 972-6084 and tell her Parent:Wise sent you!
