Until recently, this wasn’t a question most women even thought of asking. But now that pregnant moms have so many options for giving birth, the American College of nurse Midwives has developed an interactive web site to help moms determine which kind of birth is right for them.
If you log on to www.DeliverMyBaby.org, you can take a quick quiz that measures your responses to questions typically asked of pregnant women, such as how you feel about having an episiotomy or a C-section. Based on your answers, the site determines whether you would feel more comfortable with a physician or a midwife as your birth provider.
Because the site is managed by the American College of Nurse Midwives, the questions tend to be worded in a way that might encourage mothers to select the midwife-centered approach to birth. Despite this, the quiz could prove useful to many women who haven’t considered what kind of care they prefer, or even what’s available to them.
