My son kept watch
over his godzillas
in this very closet.
He washed and dried
his pet godzilla
in our family tub.
He fed him kibble-
hand-torn paper -
and equipped him with a whip.
"I'm going to be
a little busy
in first grade today," he says.
"I'll tell you, Mom,
Godzilla needs some
watching while I'm gone."
"..'cause I'm going to be
a little busy
in first grade today," he said.
So I kept watch
from eight to three
and called to him that all was well...
...as he streaked past me
down this hall
to check on his Godzilla.
Joy bounced across
the master's face
when, whew, he found his monster happy.
A happy family
has lived here...
here on Leafwood Circle.
We the sellers
will keep mum
about the old inhabitants...
...as the daughter
and new owners
inspect her room to be.
She doesn't ever
need to know
that once upon a happy time...
There was a monster
thriving here,
in her brand new closet.
