The Round Rock Partners in Education Foundation is looking for some enthusiastic kids and their parents to help purchase, organize and distribute school supplies to needy kids.
Some 12,000 students in the Round Rock independent school district are eligible for free school supplies. Last year, the Foundation distributed supplies to more than 5,400 kids; this year, it would like to increase that to 7,000 kids.
To do that, the Foundation is calling on folks to participate in the “Support-A-Student-Program.” A $10 donation to the program will provide one child with school supplies. For those who are able, the Foundation also offers an opportunity to sponsor an entire campus in need. To donate online via PayPal, log on to www1.roundrockisd.org/educationfoundation/donate.
The group also needs people to help out during its annual school supply drive, held Aug. 12-14 at Stony Point High School. This is when school supplies will be given to kids who need them.
