Sally Hunter’s hard work with kids has drawn national attention: the National Council for the Social Studies named her its Outstanding Elementary Social Studies Teacher of the Year!
The award comes with a check for $2,500 and a trip to Denver, Colo. in November for an awards banquet.

The NCSS Teacher of the Year award recognizes exceptional classroom social studies teachers in grades K-12. Both AISD and Ms. Hunter consider the award a major honor.
Founded in 1921, National Council for the Social Sciences has members from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and 69 foreign countries.
