Jeanette Larson Parents looking for an educational Valentine’s gift for a budding linguist need look no further than this lovely pop up book. Simply written and illustrated, the book shows kids how to say “I love you” in five different languages: Italian, Dutch, Japanese, Swahili and French. Each page contains the phrase, plus a phonetic pronunciation, for each language (the Japanese page also shows how to write “I Love You” in Japanese characters). Because the text is so simple and the pop-ups so pretty, the book will appeal to children as young as three. However, parent supervision is recommended with preschoolers to keep the pop-ups on the page!
