We have so much to be thankful for and this picture book catalogs many of the wonderful things in a lyrical way. From the “sun that wakes me up so I don’t sleep for years” to “the bees that didn’t sting me” and “Mom, who found my homework in the trash,” Mora focuses on blessings that are appropriate for preschool and young elementary aged children. The text is provided in both Spanish and English, usually on opposite sides of double-page illustrations that feature a child from a bicultural family. The folk art-style illustrations are bright and endearing, showing a very happy family celebrating the joy in their lives. The endnote challenges the reader to consider what each is thankful for and encourages discussion about the pleasures in our lives.
