Lola visits the library with her father and finds some excellent books. Daddy reads the books to her and Lola imagines herself having great adventures. The story is brief but with oversized illustrations conveys all of the enthusiasm a child feels while being read to. A special feature of the story is that Lola and her family are black but their race is tangential to the story: they are simply a loving family who enjoys reading and dreaming. The final page features Lola pretending to be Max from Where the Wild Things Are, adding to the potential for this book to be perfect bedtime reading for any preschool child.
