A perfect story for Valentine's Day, this picture book provides a decidedly brisk and unsentimental look at a mother's love for her child. When mama throws a kiss to her little girl it misses and flies out the window. Flying through the air, the kiss "catches Dog upon the nose" and "smacks Cat" before continuing on to touch many other creatures before finding its way back home. The poetic meter of the simple story line and the upbeat, happy tone make it a great read-aloud for preschool and younger elementary children. The cartoonish illustrations are jaunty and light, portraying a very happy family that is filled with love and who seal each day with kisses and hugs.
