Created by a mama whose chiropractor recommended head support to alleviate her baby’s discomfort, Baby Elephant Ears are two elongated pillows connected by a flat piece of cloth. When placed behind baby’s head, they look rather like large elephant ears, hence the name. Their purpose is to prevent baby’s head from dropping to one side or another when in a car seat or stroller. Tester Mama Katrina tried out the product with her eight-month old daughter and found it worked exactly as described. Although her daughter has great head control, riding in the stroller can be a bit uncomfortable. That’s because the stroller’s upright position, combined with its less confining straps, results in a leaning baby. The Baby Elephant Ears, however, kept her baby’s head centered in the stroller and prevented her body from leaning during walks; this was especially true if the baby dozed off. Although the product is designed to work in a car seat, you should not use it while driving because it could interfere with the seat’s safety mechanisms (you can, however, use it when the car seat is in a stroller). Baby Elephant Ears are machine washable and, after one wash, look as good as new. Recommended as a fun, and useful, baby shower gift.
We’re required to tell you that all Cool or Crummy items are sent to us by companies and PR agents; we do not purchase these items independently, they just show up on our doorstep. All items are tested by our Product Review Team, otherwise known as the Tester Mamas, who have children in the age ranges recommend by the items in question. As you can see, we’re brutally honest in our reviews so it should go without saying that we do not accept payment for product placement (but we have to say it anyway because this is, after all, a required legal notice).
