What do you get when you cross a Rastafarian beanie with a hacky sack? The PhD Pocket Disc! Honestly, this lightweight, crocheted disc is completely addictive to all who encounter it. Our 7-year-old tester boy couldn't stop throwing it, and since it’s soft, our Tester Mama Nancy let him — yep, even in the house. He loved it so much that he tossed all of the other flying discs out of his backyard (sorry neighbors).
Then, when he was done playing, he stuck it on top of his head like a beret and we swear he forgot all about it because, two hours later, he still had it on his head! At the moment, the disc is serving as a throne to Tester Mmama Nancy’s aging cat…. So, yeah, we like this thing! It’s a blast and it’s oh-so-portable (just fold it up and stick it in your pocket). We also like the fact that the company was founded by two dads who use fair-trade labor (mothers in Guatamala — who, by the way, have now started their own company to manufacture other goods!). The PhD Pocket Disc would make a great addition to any kid’s Easter basket …that is, if the parents could let it go.
We’re required to tell you that all Cool or Crummy items are sent to us by companies and PR agents; we do not purchase these items independently, they just show up on our doorstep. All items are tested by our Product Review Team, otherwise known as the Tester Mamas, who have children in the age ranges recommend by the items in question. As you can see, we’re brutally honest in our reviews so it should go without saying that we do not accept payment for product placement (but we have to say it anyway because this is, after all, a required legal notice).
