Potty Song

Cool-Or-Crummy (Crummy!)
Price:
$6-10

So seriously, who willingly brings an annoying song into the house to play over and over and over again until one’s brain explodes out of one’s head? Not us—even those of us who are desperate to get our kids potty trained. The Potty Song was supposedly created to motivate kids by “generating excitement” about potty training through a “personalized, upbeat and easy to remember song”. OK, we’ll give ’em the “easy to remember” part. Sheesh, every single line of the song has the word “potty” in it! That, coupled with your child’s name every second, is enough to drive anyone nuts. But given toddlers’ peculiarly awful taste in music, we plugged our ears and put the thing in the CD player….only to have the tester kids ignore it completely. In fact, they didn’t react at all. So much for “generating excitement.” Perhaps our problem was that the personalized name in the song didn’t belong to any of the tester kids in question. But even if it had, we doubt they would have liked it any better, since the song isn’t catchy or musically interesting at all (you can listen to a demo of the song on the company’s web page). Frankly, we hated this stupid song and can’t imagine using it to train our dog, much less our child. But hey, if the whole song-and-potty idea intrigues you, we say make-up your own tune and sing it whenever your child feels the urge. It’ll be personalized, catchy and best of all, free
