We rarely want to compose a poem about a product, but Sock Sacs are so great we may end up doing so! Made of sturdy, silicone-coated mesh, these ingenious little bags come with a hook so that you can hang them up next to every laundry hamper in the house. The idea is, you place your socks in the sack then, when it’s full, simply zip it closed, snap it shut, and throw it in the wash. The sack keeps all of your socks in one place so that you never lose any! Sure, it’s a simple product that has been “invented” before by other companies, but previous incarnations haven’t been quite so nice.
The snap to keep the zipper closed, for instance, is ingenious ― much better than the drawstring approach that other products use. The bright colors also allow busy parents to color-code each kid’s socks so that nobody ends-up with the wrong ones in his drawer (for example, all of Billy’s socks go in the blue sack, while Suzy has the orange sack). The only downside is that you cannot use bleach with this product ― not a bit deal, really, but something to consider if you ordinarily do so. All in all an excellent product!
JAN. 10, 2010 UPDATE: Cathy George, the founder of Sock Sacs, emailed us to let us know that Sock Sacs absolutely CAN be bleached -- and will NOT bleed in the process. "It was a must that they be bleachable because socks get so dirty and dingy," she writes. "I can't promise with weekly washing and bleaching they won't eventually fade, but they hold up very well!"
We’re required to tell you that all Cool or Crummy items are sent to us by companies and PR agents; we do not purchase these items independently, they just show up on our doorstep. All items are tested by our Product Review Team, otherwise known as the Tester Mamas, who have children in the age ranges recommend by the items in question. As you can see, we’re brutally honest in our reviews so it should go without saying that we do not accept payment for product placement (but we have to say it anyway because this is, after all, a required legal notice). If you have any questions, feel free to email us at Editor@ParentWiseAustin.com.
